JAKE

BLUMENCRANZ

Jake Blumencranz has repeatedly put powerful interests and extreme politics ahead of Long Island families.

He voted against hundreds of millions of dollars in aid for our public schools, sided with the insurance industry over consumers, and opposed protections for reproductive freedom and gun safety.

We cannot trust Jake Blumencranz to stand up for us.

SURPRISE HIKES ON YOUR ENERGY BILL

Long Islanders already pay too much to keep the lights on.

But when New York moved to stop energy-service companies from springing surprise rate increases on customers, Jake Blumencranz voted no, leaving customers more vulnerable to undisclosed price changes and a bigger bill they never agreed to.

If Jake Blumencranz cannot stand up for you when your energy bill goes up, whose side is he on?

CUTTING FUNDS FOR OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Jake Blumencranz says he supports our public schools. His votes say otherwise.

Twice, Blumencranz voted against state budget bills that delivered critical school funding to our communities. Those bills provided more than $365 million for local school districts including Great Neck, Herricks, Jericho, Manhasset, Port Washington and Roslyn.

Blumencranz voted no both times. That’s hundreds of millions of dollars for our classrooms, teachers and students that Jake Blumencranz voted against — without publicly explaining why.

Our public schools deserve a State Senator who will fight for their funding, not vote against it.

THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY'S ASSEMBLYMAN

Jake Blumencranz has served on the Assembly Insurance Committee while continuing to work as an insurance executive and broker at NFP, an Aon company, even as he helped decide which protections insurance companies would have to provide New Yorkers.

Instead of standing up for consumers, Blumencranz repeatedly sided with the insurance industry. He voted against requiring coverage for a brand-name prescription when a generic drug is unavailable, making insurance policies easier to understand, stopping insurers from routinely demanding intrusive financial and tax records during theft claims, and eliminating insulin copayments in certain health plans.

Jake Blumencranz was paid as much as $650,000 by an insurance company while voting against protections that could save New Yorkers money. We know whose side he is on – and it is not ours.

OUT OF STEP WITH OUR VALUES

When reproductive freedom and gun safety were on the line, Jake Blumencranz voted the wrong way.

Blumencranz voted against protecting New Yorkers’ private health information and against safeguards for New York abortion providers targeted by states with more restrictive abortion laws.

And when lawmakers moved to strengthen protections designed to keep firearms away from people who pose a danger to themselves or others, Blumencranz voted no.

The pattern is clear: on reproductive freedom and gun safety, Jake Blumencranz has repeatedly sided with extreme politics instead of protecting New York families.
